School For Seniors Update
As you are aware SFS return is pending the opening of NBUC Church buildings. The Synod Leadership team are meeting weekly, to discuss State and Territory Government regulations and what they mean for the Uniting Church and its members. As this stage the Synod have elected to keep all hall facilities closed to hirers, whilst they work on cleaning and safety issue that arise from opening facilities for both internal and external use.

This decision has not been made lightly by the Synod, whose priority is the safety and well-being of our church community. Hence resulting in the continued closure of church doors for both worship and hall hirers.

We appreciate your patience and continued support in these uncertain times. Synod are continually monitoring the Government’s advice and relaxing of restrictions and will be regularly implementing updated guidelines to us, which we will pass onto you.
Whilst awaiting the physical return of School For Seniors, please continue to visit this page, for updated information on the resumption of classes.
Please also continue to telephone or visit other members of your class. Stay well!
About School for Seniors
The Balgowlah School for Seniors has been in operation for nearly 40 years as an outreach
program of the Balgowlah Uniting Church and hence is part of the local community. It is located in the Uniting Church Hall, 122 Condamine Street, Balgowlah.
A volunteer committee runs the School with over 100 members who are enrolled each year, the majority of whom live in the Manly area, though some travel from Warringah, Pittwater and Mosman areas.
Balgowlah School for Seniors provides a casual setting in which men and women aged 55 years and over can make friends, learn new skills and share their interests with one another. The aim is to provide a wide range of subjects to suit seniors such as languages (French & Italian), craft (quilling, knitting and art), table games (Bridge, Solo, Scrabble, Mah Jongg) as well as physical activities such as gentle exercise. Participation in these activities encourages socialisation and mental stimulation. We also organise fundraising events such as the Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea for everyone to participate in. And many enjoy other social activities such as regular luncheons, the Christmas Party and Melbourne Cup sweeps.
