The Balgowlah School for Seniors has been in operation for nearly 40 years as an outreach program of the Balgowlah Uniting Church and hence is part of the local community. It is located in the Uniting Church Hall, 122 Condamine Street, Balgowlah.

A volunteer committee runs the School with over 100 members who are enrolled each year, the majority of whom live in the Manly area, though some travel from Warringah, Pittwater and Mosman areas.

Balgowlah School for Seniors provides a casual setting in which men and women aged 55 years and over can make friends, learn new skills and share their interests with one another. The aim is to provide a wide range of subjects to suit seniors such as languages (French & Italian), craft (quilling, knitting and art), table games (Bridge, Solo, Scrabble, Mah Jongg) as well as physical activities such as gentle exercise. Participation in these activities encourages socialisation and mental stimulation. We also organise fundraising events such as the Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea for everyone to participate in. And many enjoy other social activities such as regular luncheons, the Christmas Party and Melbourne Cup sweeps.
